The PeaceLabs vision of leveraging the power of music to meet social and civic goals through a “Musician Corps” is rocking! We have been on the road all fall, building support for the Music National Service Initiative (MNSi). In addition to launching the non-profit (thank you Howard Rice!), MNSi is cultivating a strong network of school-, health-, and community-based music programs in addition to key public policy, philanthropy, and business leaders. In late January, MNSi is convening a day-long discussion on music and service at the Aspen Institute in Washington D.C. to elicit expert advice and advance the movement. We’re excited that the Chair of Aspen’s Philathropy Advisory Council Jim Smith is co-convening the session. Stay tuned for much more in ’08!
